I'm about to order a few hundred dollars worth of maintenance parts, have questions..

    Here's my list so far:

    Valve Cover Seal
    Valve Cover Paint
    Exhaust Stud
    Exhaust Gaskets (Manifold to Collector)
    Thermostat
    Water Pump
    Camshaft Seal & O-Ring
    Coolant Hoses
    Throttle Body Heater Gasket
    Coolant
    Timing Belt & Tensioner
    Engine Oil & Filter
    LSD Oil
    Fuel Filter
    Flex Disc
    Flex Disc Nuts
    Rear Transmission Seals
    Transmission Oil
    Center Support Bearing
    Rubber Shift Lever Gasket
    Shift Linkage Refreshment Parts (SSK?)
    UUC Delrin Bushings
    Antenna Grommet

That should cover the engine and transmission, as well as a few other little things.

My first question, how much do you guys think this is going to cost me for all these things?

Second, for things like the thermostat, water pump, and other parts that have multiple manufacturers, is there one brand that's better than the others or are they all the same?

Third, where's the best place to order from? Discount Import Parts is close and I could get the parts right away, but their prices are a little bit higher (only around 10% I'd say). The other nice thing is I could return them easily. The downside is I won't be able to select the manufacturer of the parts, if that matters, since they don't carry multiple brands of the same part.

Fourth, while I'm doing all this is there anything I'm forgetting that I should do?

    Thanks guys.

Just talk to Patrick at BMA Parts. He'll hook you up with everything you need.
With a long list of parts like that, I'd recommend emailing him instead of calling though.

I was headed up to PDX a couple of weeks ago. Similar list, too.

I ordered from BMA while on the road, since every price I checked was about 15% cheaper.

Nice Luke. Sounds like BMA it is. Anyone have an answer to the other questions? Especially #2, there's like 4 different brands of water pumps. And what thermostat temperature is better for the Northwest?

What is your plan on the SSK? I just did the Z3 dealy-o and am unhappy because I half-assed it. I only did the shifter and pivot. It is still better than it was, but it eats dick IMO. PLUS the shifter is forward from where it is supposed to be, because it is straight (unlike its dick-eating linkage).

So, UUC, AKG, OE, whoever, get the whole package, be prepared to drop whatever parts necessary to replace ALL of the parts...or don't bother.

I wanna try the "raised cup" deal too. I hate the extreme notchiness.

Go with the Z4 2.5i shifter.

Then get new yellow spacers, get a new shifter knuckle, replace the uuc delrin bushings, The way you do everything right the first time.

Common brands: Geba, Lasso/Laso, GMB, Graf, Meyle, HEPU

                Coolant

Peak but other major brands have specific products that work well.

Any GL-5, although many here like RedLine
                Transmission Oil
Use only GL-4 for the transmission, which pretty much means RedLine MTL/MT90
                Fuel Filter
                Fuel filter, expect $9 - $14
                Flex Disc

                Center Support Bearing
                Rubber Shift Lever Gasket
Not the shift boot, but the rubber bellows? Boneyard part.
Unplug reverse wires from the transmission side to feed through.
                Shift Linkage Refreshment Parts (SSK?)
This depends on which linkage you have. Look before buying. I have
some extra parts because I trusted someone elses list the first time.
                UUC Delrin Bushings
Perhaps replace sloppy parts w/ OEM before deciding that you need this
25-11-1-220-832, Shift arm to transmission bearing sleeve 26mm, 8.00/6.80
                Superceded by 25-11-7-519-669
