    Retrofitting Heated Seats

I'm about to install some heated seats into my car, and I'm just wanting to know the best circuit to tap into for power.

Has any one done this before?

Have not done it but something that can take some juice. Those draw some good power... atleast in my M3 they do.

Use the original circuit, the wiring is in place to the large connector next to the steering column under the dash.

I'm doubting there is prewiring in my 84 318. Does any one know the fuse rating on the circuit?

          Allrighty, then...

15A fuse on my car, fuse 16, which leads via a 1.5mm white/brown wire to connector C302 cavity U.

You could take a look, it may be there already.

OK, according to this: http://shark.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e30/e30_84.pdf you don't have that wiring in place... or, at least, fuse 16 is not used. However, I would backprobe that location - it may be hot and just not have a fuse in it. If it has power coming to it, check C302 cavity U - it may already be there. If not, you could pretty easily add the wiring needed to get heated seats.

I just took the seats out of my car and found out they are heated! I'll be hooking them up before next winter for sure. Now for the wheel and shift knob....

How could you not have known before? There are switches in the console next to the ebrake.
