    ODO reset?

The odo in my car went out last summer and the gas and coolant gauges act weird and jump around sometimes. So I'm thinkin about pickin up a new cluster. Is there a way that I can roll the odo all the way around to the milage of the new motor so I can keep track of it w/out math ;)

Is it too tricky to take the odo apart ?

I am not going to do it, but is it the kind of thing that will explode in a million springs and bits when opened ? ;)

The odometer is supposed to show the mileage of the vehicle, not the engine. I don't know why this is so hard to grasp for some people. If your car gets inspected with lower mileage than the last time you got a sticker, your call will be flagged as having odometer rollback by carfax. And you can be fined or arrested. http://www.carfax.com/car_buying/odometer.cfm

too bad my car has already been flagged for odo changes. I know about how many miles are on the car right now. I want to know about the engine more than the body. Plus its easy to add the body milage to the engine odo readings. I have no plans on selling the car so who cares?

Not in every state. In Oregon, they don't inspect the mileage when you renew your tags. And on cars older than 9 years old, correct odometer mileage is not required.

so the si board would fix the fuel and coolant? It seems like it would be easier/cheaper to get a used cluster expecially since they have come down a lot.

on the back of the cluster where the fuel and temp gauges are, there should be a nut and a washer, if its loose or missing u need to tighten/replace them. im not sure exactly what it does but its supposed to keep or fuel and temp gauge working right. hope this helps.
