Hards starts...after sitting for a few hours only when its warm...

Well a weird problem has been starting with my car recently. The car starts fine in the mornings when I start it up to go to school. But after class in the afternoon it has troubles starting...just doesn't seem to be getting gas I'd have to keep the starter on for like 10seconds and do it a few times sometimes pumping the gas than it'll all a sudden it comes to life (a few times hitting the redline )...any help is appreciated

    thanks,
    Dan

Bad fuel pump... Or more likely a bad distributor/rotor... soon it won't even start at all. Be careful and get it fixed asap or it will leave you stranded on the highway one day.

I was thinking it might be the fuel pump...the one by the driver rear wheel buzzes pretty loud. So why does it work fine in the mornings tho?

Not sure why it srarts easy in the morning, may have something to do with pressure. The buzzing tells us that the pump is on it's way out and fast.

what causes the pump to go bad? is it just dirty or bad? can they be repaired?

Eventually the pump will just wear out. But a tank that's rusted (the usual case on one of these cars) can be loaded up with pretty abrasive rust particles which will accellerate the wear and can clog the inlet screens and filter. Either of those will make the pump noisy and lead to fuel starvation issues.

You can't repair the pump (it is a sealed unit) and they are rather pricey. Having played the game of replacing the high pressure pump (twice on one car within months) I rather think that I'll not do that again without de-rusting & sealing the tank. Which is what I had to do to avoid having to buy a third pump.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

You can change the fuel pump or do this $5.00 fix.
