So I have been told that the rear U joint is not replacable. Is this true? Anyone have the rear half of the drive shaft?

it is not made to be serviceable.... It can be replaced by a competant driveshaft shop though... they will have to grind out the welds and replace the joint by welding in a new one. Easy & simple.... but can't be done in your garage. IMO you would be better off looking for a reman one because when you combine two different sections that were not balanced together you are asking for trouble. you WILL have driveshaft vibrations & noise, your driveshaft's life WILL be cut down a ton and you WILL be dissapointed eventually...
