    Pulsating Headlights

Help! My headlights and dash lights pulsate. I searched this forum and agreed that is likely my voltage regulator. So, I took it to Sears to check the battery and alternator and everything checked out fine. The alternator made 13.7 volts with a load. Unfortunately, my alternator isn't an OEM unit, and the regulator isn't accessible. Is the electrical system check a reliable check for this sort of problem? Is there anything else that might be causing this that I should check before I simply replace the alternator?
    Thanks for you help.

While the alternator is in the car, start the car and check voltage at idle. Then with the voltmeter still connected, see what it does when you rev it up. Voltage should stay under 14v, and above 13v or so.

Thanks for the reply. The alternator was 13.7@idle and 13.9V@2,500K. It didn't seem to change much with or without load.

        Perfectly good numbers.

It is normal for things to get slightly brighter when you come off of idle; but if it's really bad you may check grounds.
