    c-c-clunk! in front end

Hi there. I've got an '89 325is with a getting-nastier clunk in the driver's side suspension. It goes "c-c-clunk" when I take a right turn with a fair amount of zeal but not a lot of speed (say, like, accelerating energetically around a right-hand turn from a red light). It also has started doing it whenever I get on the brakes fairly hard: "c-c-CLUNK-squeak." I can't really feel it in the steering in this instance.

I disconnected the power steering a while back and the tie rods are brand new. The wheel bearing has no discernible play. From looking around other places, it seems as if this would either be control arm issues or a strut problem. What say you? It's getting rather unsettling.

check your suspension in the front by jacking your car up to get the tire off the ground and try to wiggle it up and down and side to side.

It sounds like a control arm bushing to me though

Personally, I'd check your U-joints, since all having a sheared CA bushing would do is cause vibration under heavy braking, and at speeds. At least, that's all that having only 1 functional bushing does to my car.

strut mount/bearing.... check that out.... if it were the u-joint it would happen around left hand turns....right hand turns.... straight ahead turns

Bringing this one back ... 8)

Just curious if you found the cause of the "clunk".

I am about to purchase an 87 325is that has the same symptom. Hoping its as simple as new front CA bushings, which look pretty shot.
