    Power window relay?

Hey guys, I got a question. Do our cars have a power window relay? I can't get my windows to work, and when I checked out a Haynes manual, it shows one on our cars.

Does anyone know where it's located? The book doesn't tell me that much.

    Thanks.

Do you mean the circuit breaker in the dash (or maybe console)?

Guys, where is this button you are talking about?

All I know is that my windows were popping the fuse constantly, and now they aren't doing anything at all.

I'll go check for this button right now.

not sure but is it the one near where the window buttons are? The one that is black and when you push it you can see red around the edges.

It can be in either location, depending on where they put it at the factory.

Yes, that button (plain black) is the breaker. If you can see red around the edges, then it's tripped. The breaker must be depressed in order for your power windows to work. However, if you're constantly blowing fuses, I don't think it's the breaker.

Yeah, maybe there's a bad ground? Or, the system just keeps shorting out? Something to try - get a new fuse in there, and try each window individually. After each try, check to see if the fuse is blown. That way you can narrow it down to one motor - then check wires related to that motor.

Early cars have the breaker button near the center vents like he said, after '88 the button is near the front passenger's window swtich by the shifter.

                        I'll try that button.

All I know is that before it tripped, it would blow the fuse every time. I thought that I had a wire grounding out around the tranny tunnel, but I didn't.

I'll check that out later and let you guys know.

                        Thanks
