    Temp switch??

I know, I should buy a bentley, but I need to check this now and the bentley won't come for a while yet. I have a haynes manual, but it isnt much help. When i turn my ignition on, the temp guage jumps up, but after running it for a while (5 mins), it hadn't even moved into the blue section yet. The engine felt pretty hot to me when i went to check the rad hoses. Top rad hose is getting hot, so thermostat is working, right? How can i check to see if this guage is functioning properly??? How long should it take to warm up an m10 at 1500 rpms (that's where it idles right now, another problem for later)

    Thanks...

Does it ever come out of the blue after you have driven the car for 20+ minutes?
You may need to replace the batteries on the circuit board. Or you may need to remove the gauge panel and tighten the grounding nut on the back of the board.

    For the idle:
-Get some carb cleaner and clean the ICV out really well
-Re-install the ICV and adjust the idle with the screw on the side to ~800 rpms.

      thanks for the reply....

I just bought the car last week, with a cracked rad and rotted brake line from the master cyl to the t fitting in the back, so i didn't road test the car, just had it towed to my place (I got it for a really good price, $300 CDN) It seemed like the guage was starting to move up a bit but I shut it down. So far I've found from looking at the underbody that i'll have to probably do the CAB's for safety, but everything else looks good (fingers crossed)

Any other input is welcome ;)

Si Board batts could be shot? if its the cluster with 3 RED Interval lights then yeah they are prolly due, my coworkers 86 325 *built late 85* has that same issue, guage does not move, and if it does, barely.

If thats the case, I would upgrade to an 86+ cluster with the 2 red lights
