    E36 exhaust on E30

Apparently an E36 rear (cat back) exhaust can fit on the E30 with modifications. Anyone have any more info on this?

Lukas, you should start to classify your car as an e36. hah

So what we're saying here is than an E36 exhaust, intended for a six-cylinder, will fit an E30 325i/is with little modification?

                  Is that correct?

What needs to be done, to make this happen?

There are plenty of great deals to be had on E36 exhausts - we would all benefit from this.

Are the exhausts any lighter than the stock e30? I would imagine that you are addin weight.

I have an E36 M3 muffler on my car. It's kinda heavy and doesn't do anything in performance, but I wanted the straight tips and low noise. It's a completely custom job, pipes, hangers, flanges and all.

mainly i was thinking about whats available aftermarket in terms of e36 exhaust systems... the availability for the e30 is kinda slim and for the most part pretty pricey... there are some decent lower cost e36 systems out there...

Have you looked into universal systems?

well my plan was to go fully custom.. but this may just be an alternative route

If we're just talking about E36 ---mufflers--- then it's pretty obvious that we could put those to use.

A couple of these posts have made it sound like an E36 stock or aftermarket catback exhaust would fit an E30 325i/is, from the cat, back.
