    antenna

while in the process of replacing my current antenna (the old one that wont go up!), i found out why it wasnt going up. turns out that the zip-tie part of it is broken; only 1/2 of it came up with the actual mast.

Atleast, thats what im assuming. Could it be that the zip-tie part of it on the stock antenna is shorter.. or is there really a part of it stuck in the antenna motor? if so, how do i get it out so that i can put my new antenna mast in?

If you take the stock antenna apart, you will see that there is a motor, coupled to a "transmission" by a belt.

The "transmission" is a 2 piece drum. That is what wraps the antenna mast cable to make it raise and lower. You will need to pull only one circlip to separate the two halves to remove the broken cable. I like to smear some lithium grease in there to keep things moving smoothly...

When you dissassemble, you will find 2 or 3 small rubber grommets holding the board in place. these are also noise isolators, so try and not lose them.
