    Bilstein Problem Help!

Hi guys I purchased a set of M-tech factory bilsteins a couple weeks ago. They didn't come with any gland nuts so I called up bilstein and told them what I had they couldn't find the part numbers in there computer so they sent me Bilstein sport gland nuts as they should be the same. Well They came today, i had a spair strut housing in the garage so AI just test fitted them and sell the gland nut threads in find but it does not hold the shock in place. You can pull the shock right out threw the seal on the gland nut. The nut dosn't have anysort of metal retaining ring and is just smooth on the isde edge and has a rubber seal on the top end like the Cam and crank seals on the m20 engine. I don't know how these would work. As soon as you install the spring it will just pull the strut cartriage right out of the housing and will allow it to wiggle around. Any ideas? I'm going to call Bilstein again here in a couple minutes to see what's up.

Just spent 30 mins on the phone with bilstein, it seems as if the part they sent me was wrong, but they can't find the correct part as it may no longer be made. But the guy is going to look threw some non inventory parts to see if he can find what I need.

you can get them from bav auto. I had to get them for my BS sports and they were able to supply me with the correctly fitting self locking nuts.

I've got a set for the sports but these M-technic shocks use a different one.

Just heard back from Bilstein, The nut is NLA for these inserts. Looks like I get to go to the dealer tommorow and buy them for $38 a piece Hopefully they can get me the right part.

Woah.. I think I have 2 of those gland nuts from my 87 325iS Bilstiens (the thick ass piston ones)

Are those what you need? They arent showroom condition or anything, but I think they are still in a parts bin.

Maybe, can you get some measurments from them like what is the diameter of the opening at the top of the collor. And do they have a part number on the top of them?
should be along the lines of B36-816 or so or somethings.
Please let me know as soon as possible as I will be going to the dealer tommorow at 11 a.m.

The # on top is B30-629

These are off a 87 325iS (mine) with the OEM Bilstien Sports. There are the proper gland nuts for the fat bodied piston BS struts. If your piston is basicly the same size as the yellow housing (2mm diameter or so smaller then the housing) then these should be the right ones...

                Lemme know.

IF the number is B30-629 I'll take them. Those are exactly what I need, the Sports need a B36 nut and is too big for the stock bilsteins.
Let me know how much shipped to 37315(if at all possible I'd love to get them here by Wednesday)
