    ECU Question

    Hey guys,
Ive called a dealer today and i wanted to purchase a new 173 ECU for my 1988 325is. The guy at the dealer says the Ecu needs to be programmed in order to work. Is this true or are the ecu's programmed from the factory?
    Thanks for any comments,
    Derek Fahrenfeld

      Don't buy a new one.

And yes, they come as blanks when the dealer orders them now.

173's are $70 to $150 used all day on boards just look around. If you can't find one I have 2 153 boxes. Gladly sell one for $50 plus ten for shipping.

Don't pay stealer price for an ECU.

They are all over Ebay. the 173 ECU is the most expensive, you can get a 153 for very cheap.
