why do my belts look so far down in the engine bay? there squeaking like crazy, but i dont know where to adjust them.

Well the first thing to do is get a bently if you dont have one. THEN, reach in there and wiggile them . There should be a little play in them, like 1/2-1 inch. If they are nice and tight but still squeak, then they are probably glazed over. If they are glazed then get new ones and throw them in.
While your in there, its a good idea to do some other things. FULL tune up(cap, rotor, plugs,hoses,coolant,thermostat,valve adj,air filter,etc...) , if you havent done one in a while. HTH
