The one on my 90 just went out - right after i swapped the dash, heater valve, and heater core no less. Do I have to take the dash out again or does it come out of the side of the box?

It's easy. Comes out thru the access panel in the engine bay. Remove the big bracket that holds all the wiring along the bulkhead and then you can take out the small bolts on the edge and take the whole panel off.Adam Fogg- '88 M3
