    Idle Problem

I have run into a problem with my car. My idle is wierd and really low and it stalled while slowing down in first once. As I slow down the revs are dropping to 500 RPM. When the key is in the ON position, the Idle stabilizer (control) valve (the little black cylinder by the top of the engine block) buzzes. It was only replaced a few months ago. The car also smells a bit rich I think. Also, the tachometer didn't work earlier, but now it's OK.
And I think I have ANOTHER oil leak. Darn these expenses.
Any suggestions on the idle problem?
    Thanks, Dave.

Did you replace your ICV with a new one? Are you sure it's very clean? If not, then get some carb cleaner and clean it out really well. Then replace it and use the screw on the side (if you have one) to dial in a correct idle speed.

I didn't get it replaced, it was the owners before me as I was buying the car. It looks new.

Mine looks new too, but it's 20 years old. Get some carb cleaner and clean it out REALLY well.

Does your ICV have a screw on the side for adjustment?

I don't think so. Mine is a black one (I guess it was used on the later models). What is that black box beside it that has a dial inside it with a load of numbers? It is by the auxiliary relay box.
