    crazy speedometer

I have been having this intermittent problem with my speedometer where every once and a while the needle will drop. Normally it doesn't happen very often and if i tap the cluster it pops back up.

Over the past few days it has gotten a lot worse and happens every time i drive. And today when I was coming home from work I couldn't get the needle to come back up by tapping on the cluster.

This is the only gauge in my cluster that is wonky.
What is causing this problem, and how do I go about fixing it?

this is just a guess, but I *think* the speedo (wow we have as you type spell check, nm must be firefox 2.0 that I just dl'd) sensor is in your diff. I'd consider unplugging it, cleaning the contacts with CRC QD, and maybe some emory cloth on the contacts. A little waterproof electrical silicone, and reconnect. Also look for frayed wires.

Then again the gauge itself might be fubared.

The solder joints propobly need to be reflowed on your circuit board.

I had a similar problem and it ended up being a bad connection at the diff speed sensor.

            Does your odometer work?

I replaced the sensor in the diff and couldn't find any bad wires. In both of my clusters the speedo works sometimes, but the odometer never works. The gears seem to be ok, so I'm not sure what is going wrong.

Anyone seen a speedo work but the odometer doesn't?
