Well I swear I wasn't gonna pay a mechanic to this for me - despite reading the horror stories of a few people that I've spoken to...
I begun this job almost a month ago at my mom's house since my wipers stopped working on int and low speed. I just got sick of not driving my car in the rain. So after carefully taking things apart, and trying to gain clearance in the firewall - I had a bear of a time trying to remove the blower motor and housing - after 2 weekends of limited time to spend on it, I finally got it out last night. Let me tell you the 4 clips that hold the housing are a bear to get out, most especially the one nearest the driver side rear. It took some creative pivoting to get a stubby flat head in there, with enough leverage and hand strength to push that clip.
So finally the blower motor is out and so is the housing. Easy from now on right?? WRONG!!
With the linkage and main bracket completely unbolted, I can only manage to get the passenger side wiper socket out of the cowl, but the driver side socket maybe 2/3 of the way out, but not clearing the cowl. On the driver side, theres a small bump that gets in the way when you drop the linkage on that side. I even tried to run the wiper motor to see how much more the linkage arm will pivot but its not enough.
I am told the only way to clear the linkage out is to first get to the 3 bolts upside down behind the linkage bracket, then unbolt the arm to the wiper motor, then remove the wiper motor and pivot the arm however which way?
Bentley IIRC says the motor and linkage should come out together, but I can't see how?
I'm serious just about to give up, have my wrenchmonkey/mechanic finish the job for some $ and move on with my life, its beyond annoying.
Any help is appreciated!!
