    problems with central locking mechanism

After doing a search, i found good information, but have questions as to how to fix the central locking mechanism.

My problem is that turning the key in the drivers side lock does not lock the drivers side door. Neither does trying to lock it from the rear, or drivers side. It will, however make the passenger side door lock. If I am inside the car though, I can just push the stem down, and all the doors will lock. Im not sure what is causing this gremlin of a problem.

On the suggestion that I should take off the drivers side front speaker panel below the steering column, as well as remove the speaker. Ive included a few pictures to annotate my findings * (see note at bottom)

this is a picture of the speaker hole. towards the bottom of the larger strand of wires wrapped in black tape is one of the modules, one had a "hella" emblem on it, the other said "oben top".

here is another picture, at the bottom, inside the speaker hole is another picture of the modules

i know these need resized, sorry, short on time.

Once more, here is a shot of the modules. Sorry about the pics guys, cramped spaces, poor lighting, paired with a blackberry as my camera yield what you are looking at.

I guess my main question is what should I be looking for in the wiring to solve my problem. If at all, Id like to be able to fix the mechanism so that the car returns to locking all doors as normal, but if there is a quick way to solve this, even if it means disabling the whole system, im not opposed to it. As of now, I cant even lock my drivers side door.

*car is an M50 converted 325i, so the wiring *may* or may not be different in this part of the car, im not sure, I didnt perform the swap. any help is much appreciated.

I have a similar problem only the drivers side door lock doesnt lock at all... turning the key, pushing down, or from the central lock from the trunk.

I think the actual locking cylinder itself is bade on mine but I havent taken anything apart yet to know for sure...
      Keep on Keepin' on.

I just need to know if this is a problem with the lock and core itself, or its a wiring gremlin.

        Surely someone has encountered this...

sounds like your Central locking unit is good since it can lock in some places. Take off the door panel and start searching behind the door...

or it could just be the pigtail in the door jamb.

I had no action anywhere. Put in a known working CLCU.. still nothing. I gave up and went manual lock for now.
