    misbehaving speedo

so I just noticed how my speedo jumps when I shift. Like I'll take off in first gear and when I shift to second it jumps down a few mph and then jumps back up where it's suppose to be. What are some possible causes of this? This also happens when I shift to third, and happens more noticibly more when I drive hard.

maybe you're looking at the tach instead? :P j/k.... no clue.

I know my tach starts freezing when it's cold outside. It jumps rpms, or it stays stuck.

Maybe its the speed sensor in the differential. It could be loose and everytime you shift a gear the driveline moves the sensor until it falls back into place.

        Just an idea ;)

            Change your SI batteries.

Mine has the same problem, but if the si batteries were bad, wouldn't the tach not work either? My speedo, and odometer don't work.

If the batteries aren't completely dead, things may still work a bit. I'd recommend changing them, and when you have the cluster out make sure that all of the grounding nuts on the back of the gauges are tight.
