    Stupid Dash Lights

Replaced the headlamp switch but the tach, temp and hvac temp knob still don't light up.

I suppose its the bulbs at this point so I'm going to try to replace them. However, the last time I tried to get the cluster out I got as far as the two screws at the top of the cluster. Not far at all. I have no idea how it comes out. I took the two screws out, and then I just sort of sat there half expecting it to either yell at me in German or sort of teleport out of the dashboard, but neither to no avail. Now, how do I get this thing out? Do I pull the trim out from all around the gauge cluster on the dash or what? What is holding it in? Do I just punch the cluster glass a bit and then it sort of falls out (somehow without breaking--impossible on these cars).

Even though I know what rpm the car is at just by sound, I miss seeing the tach...
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
    Mark: "You never will."

    Your bulbs are burned out.

    First, remove the steering wheel.

Remove the cluster by taking out the trim panel above the steering wheel. Do this by removing the kick panel, and reaching under the dash (near steering column and trim piece) and remove 2 aluminum knurled nuts. once you remove those, you can pull out the trim piece. Then there are 4 phillips head screws that you have to remove, then two phillips screws on the top, that hold the cluster trim piece in. remove the trim piece.

Then there are two more phillips screws that are at the top (with tabs that are connected to the cluster).

Pry the tabs gently and rock the cluster down. Remove the 3 connectors, and any other wires. Remember where they go. That should free the cluster.

There is probably a better DIY out there, just search.

Aww, come on, it takes like 2 minutes to remove the steering wheel, and most of that is locating the right socket!

Okay, so its not that hard... In any case, I realized that before I start this job, I should probably find out what size these light bulbs are so that way I don't have to drive to the store sans cluster.

So, does anybody know what size bulbs these are? 194? 2721? 18 something?
