i am about to purchase a 98 M3 engine for my 89 325i, from my understanding it is compatable ,but the person selling it to me is telling me that only a 95 model and below will work with my car.....so is it compatable?

    98 M3 engine is a S52B32. (OBDII)

    You want the S50B30 from a 95 M3. (OBDI)

If you want the S52B32 that is fine, but expect to spend another $1000+ copnverting the engine to OBDI

Actually they're M50B30 and M52B32, but you silly Americans seem to be stuck in your thinking that E36 M3 engines were real M engines. ;)

No, they are definately S code engines. Just because they arent the same one that other countries had doesnt mean they are M50's
