Steering rack interchangability

I'm looking for a steering rack for my 90 325i. A local guy has one from a 325e (he didn't mention the year). He says e30s all used the same rack, but is this correct?

My car has airbags, can I use an earlier non airbag steering rack? Real OEM has the same part #, but Pelican Parts has different part for the later airbag cars.

Cant use a non-airbag rack on an airbag car.
