    Fuel Gauge Ohms?

So I am tossing around the idea of replacing the crappy stock water and fuel gauges w/ some aftermarket ones in the same spot. Does anyone know what the ohms range is from empty to full in the e30? I assume that 0 ohms is empty?

You should message Super Duper, I know he installed those VDO gauges in his old s50 car.

I've found references to the fuel gauge being a 0-74 ohm, but the one on my 87 825is is a 0-58 ohm unit (as is the new one from my dealer). If I recall correctly the sender has 0 ohms on a full tank.

yeah I did some more looking for a while and I came up w/ about 0-3 omhs = full and 73-74 ohms is empty. All of the VDO's and autometer's I've seen FS are 0 = empty and 90 = full. Is there an easy way to fix this besides filling up when I hit full lol.

edit...found a 73/empty, 10/full autometer. That just may be close enough. Would the gauge go nuts when its full and getting 0-3 ohms of resistance?

Some creative electronics can adapt a BMW sender to an aftermarket gauge. But why bother? The OE fuel gauge is reasonably accurate and works well.
