Can 325i suspension be swap to 318is?

Hey guys i'm planning on picking up a 318is in a few days, but before i decide to buy the car, i wanted to make sure the suspension parts on my current 89 325i suspension parts could be swaped over to the newer car 318is? This would be shocks/springs, ST sways, and front and rear strut bars? THanks in advance.

If you have a suspension system for a 325i you would require struts for 51mm shocks. I'm not sure if the 318is has those.

The rear would bolt right up, and the front with the struts, but the front will probably sit a little higher because of the weight difference of the engines.

It will fit, but the spring rates will be designed for a 2800 pound car that has more weight in the nose. 318is's use different spring rates than 325's. Everything will fit though, springs/shocks/swaybars.

Thanks guys for the quick reply. So it woudl be just a bit stiffer in the front, might even aid turn in response? Or is the spring rates difference enough to throw the car out of balance, i doubt it tho, but just asking just incase? O yeah, i have HR sports.

you should be fine if you're not running stock springs... 318ises also have 51mm struts, btw

The front strut insert is 51mm in diameter, is that what you mean?

318is's are hack jobs. Some have the 51mm strut housings. Mine had the 45mm ones. It's total BS.
