    Strange scrubbing sound from rear

It sounds almost exactly like really bad brakes....it even gets a little worse when the brakes are applied. I changed the brakes and rotors 2 days ago. The old brakes still had plenty of life left, but I changed them anyway. The noise is still there.

    Any theories?

ps: nothing is rubbing the tires.

When the rotors were off did you check the parking brake mechanism for worn/broken/damaged parts? After installing the new rotors did you properly adjust the parking brake (adjust the shoes and then the cables)?

If you lift the rear of the car and rotate the rear wheels can you hear the scrape? And if so does it disappear if you remove the rear pads?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Adjust the parking brake per the procedure in the Bentley manual and see if that doesn't cure the problem.

Definitely check those whenever you are doing the brakes. I had a shoe pop off and wreak havoc. Also make sure the dust shield isn't bent and making contact with the rotor.
