    Center Vent Removal?

I'd like to remove the center vents from the dash and replace it with a custom guage panel so that they're not in the ash tray area (I'll never look down there on the track). I looked through Bentley and didn't see any reference to how these are removed. I'd prefer not to break them in case I don't like the guages there. Are they screwed in place? Anyone who has info, please let me know. I've already fabricated a panel from plexiglass, which I'll coat in carbon fiber or something more appealing to the eye. It holds 3 guages, and I'll post some pics once its in.

They just snap in. Remove the rotating air fins, then pull the housing out.

Don't be afraid to pull.. hard...

The fins look like they're held in place by circlips. I'll assume that you meant to remove these then pull hard.

they arent circlips, just plastic snaps.

chances are they will break when you remove them, so just remove em.

people are always parting out cars if you need them later, and people never sell these because no one wants them... = cheap

i just changed mine with junkyard replacements because they were loose. just stick a flat-head screwdriver (thin) on either side, then angle the vents down and pull (pretty hard), they should come out easily.

Just rotate them down until you think they're going to break and then turn some more. Then you can wiggle the vents out of the housing. Then get some SMALL o-rings and put them on ONE fo the pins on either side of the housing. Reinstall the vents and you're good to go.
