Turbo Management?! AFM, FMU, SMT wtf?! ;)

Ok I know I'm going to get the "This has been beaten to death" but I've been searching for about 3 minutes and thats my limit. Since everyone's sigs now includes the word turbo you can't really search for the writeups unless you know the month .

I've got a funky T4 turbo and a bunch of metals pipes and I only want to run 7 psi at most on a cold day.

I was just wondering if I there is a way to get a custom chip that adds fuel over the RPM band instead of using an FMU. My friend with his ghetto chip burner refuses to pay for that JC program so I''ll probaly be coming out of afew bills.

If chip burning is not the way could some of you gurus inform me of what types of management you're using or maybe some pros and cons? Once again I'm only running 7 psi so I don't want to build a megasquirt.

PS. Does anyone know any wideband tuning software for motronic?I'm actually on my way to go help my honda homies hook up the laptop to the damn thing.

first of all, you can't just add fuel across the rpm range becuase that would make you rich as hell off boost

fmu: seems like a lot of guys are starting with an fmu, then a lot move up to a smt-6 for more control and to eliminate the AFM

afm: airflow meter. you already have one. it's flapper-door style so it causes a restriction in the intake and (probalby) bottoms out if you suck through it with turbo, so you have to tune around it or blow through it.

smt-6: from what i gather, this is a piggyback that can control fuel and spark. people use it when they convert their AFM to less restrictive MAF (mass air sensor?) and to tweak fuel curves when going turbo. i don't know too much about how it works or what it costs, so hopefully someone else will chime in with more info.
