    carbon buildup?

Got the head off of my m20 yesterday to do a head gasket and head refresh. Cylinders 2 & 3 have a fair amount of carbon buildup on the pistons and on the spark plugs. The other cylinders all looked very nice and their plugs were a good light brown color.

The car was running great - just loosing a small amount of oil into the coolant. Any ideas why the carbon would be drastically worse on just a couple of the pistons?

Also, what brand of head gasket/ head bolts/ timing belt do you guys like?

    thanks, Andy

The extra carbon is probably due to leaky/plugged injectors. Clean them off while you're in there. Just dont tough the nozzle with your hands.

When I did this a few weeks ago I just called the local independant BMW shop and ordered a head gasket/t-belt set. The timing belt was Continental, I dont remember the head gasket/bolt brand but it was german.
