what are the steps in changing from airbag wheel to m-tech1?

what is the process for this, I searched and couldnt find what I was looking for. I want to remove the air-bag wheel, without it deploying (obviously) but I also want to be able to re-attach it and it still be functional. How would I go about doing this? And what's involved in attaching an m-tech 1 steering wheel in it's place? do I need any special adapters or hubs for this? Again, what's the process? That said, does anyone have a m-tech1 wheel they want to sell? I found one at the junk for cheap, but time is an issue. Let me know! thanks for any help in advance,
    Dan

to safely remove the airbag unit, just make sure you disconnect the battery and unplug the airbag itself. I know this topic has been covered before, so try searching

Disconnect the battery, pull off the little plastic panel underneath the steering column and disconnect the orange plug located there. Then unscrew the two Torx bolts behind the airbag assembly and pull it free of the wheel. Disconnect the orange wire from the airbag by pulling straight out (don't worry, if you disconnected everything, it shouldn't go off... by now you've been working long enough to notworry about residual charges). Then remove the wheel, and install the M-tech 1 unit.

Mine rubbed a little, so what I did is flip the collar on the shaft over, then space the horn contact ring on the wheel out a little with a few small washers under each screw so that it would still make contact. You may want to swap the stalks so that your controls aren't RIGHT next to the wheel, but I personally like mine there. Also, there was a spring loaded plastic plug behind the wheel that rubbed on it and made some noise, so I just broke it off... it didn't seem to do anything except get in the way.

As for centering the wheel, the best way I've found is to go to a straight stretch of road, unbolt the wheel, drive the car in a straight line (preferably done on an EMPTY road) and then pull the wheel off and center it.

      HTH.

Just sit in front of the wheel and send a positive charge to it. :) j/k

Do a search, I have put the instructions on here a few times.
Make sure you unplug the SRS computer to stop the blinking red light, you will need a spacer in-between, the wheel and the nut. You may have to ben the stalks a bit to stop from hitting them when you turn.
