I've had the tank on my 325is out twice and didn't find it to be a difficult job. The tank isn't that heavy if you drain all of the fuel, but you'll want a helper or use a jack to support the tank while you deal with the bolts. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I replaced the tank in my 87e and it is an easy job. There are 5 bolts and one nut. All 13mm. Just remove all the lines from the top as well as the electrical connections. Then the lines from the bottom. Put a jack in the middle of the tank to hold it up. Then just remove the nut and bolts and the tank will come off. The ank will want to lean to the front and it will slid out. It will not just drop strait down.
I have some pics of me doing mine and I can post them up here if you want.Originally posted by cabriodster87"Honey? What color is this wire? Is it the same as that one? Are you sure? This is how it works; you buy my junk, then I will buy more junk and so on so forth etc. etc. Think of the future of your children and buy my stuff.
