those pic of the ixm50, don't give you much of an idea what went into the swap thats for sure, how hard is it? my head gasket is on its way out and have an extra m20 engine, dirve train and t-case,. I'm sure it rocks on the road though.

He discusse this sporadically on a swedish forum, the iX oil pan is shorter than the S50 oil pan. He cut both pans and welded the rear of the iX pan to the front of the S50 pan. The oil pickup and sump must be modified, there is no room for an oil level indicator. Unfortunately, the volume of oil in the engine gets smaller so you would be wise to have oil changes more often. This is another picture he took of that:
The M20 motor mounts work bolt on to the S50 engine, but the S50 uses M8 and the M20 uses M10 bolts. This can be solved using bushings.
Other than that there is the issue of clearing the brake booster, I think you have to change brake booster or modify the intake plenum.. the same issue will arise if you attempt an M50 swap in any E30 so there are known ways to solve this issue.
There shouldn't be any more issues left that is specific to the iX, but I'm sure there might be.. you have to be prepared to do some fabrication of your own.
