Ways to check if A/C compressor is good.

I took off my A/C compressor today and it seemed that there is only one wire that goes into it, and that was disconected. The A/C compressor has two wires. Where do the two wires go? I checked the Bentley but no help. Also how do I check if the compressor is good?

To check the compressor you would mount it on the engine, engage the clutch, and see if there's excessive noise. If it passes that test you'd then charge the system and see what pressures are achieved. Without a test rig there's not much you can do with the unit on the bench.

I think that there are two wires to the compressor (ground and clutch power).
