    starting issue

Hey guys I searched but couldn't find an answer to my problem. I just got the car a week ago and ever since the first time I started it it had this problem. When the car has not sat for long, I can crank the motor for a like 5 seconds or more and it won't start. I try again and it fires right up. The car doesn't seem to have this problem when cold though. Any ideas? Even when its cold it seems to take a tad longer to start than I'm used to. This is my first BMW though, could be perfectly normal. Whatcha think? Thanks for your time,

    Ryan

Possibly cold start valve staying open, causing a rich mixture? Does it run rich when warm?

An 88 doesn't have a cold start valve, so that can't be it. Leaking injectors, an intake leak, or defective engine temp sensor (the one for the DME, not the gauge) would be my first suspects.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

my 88 does the same thing once in a strange while. since to do it most during weather changes. I though it was fuel pump relater, but I will ohm out the DME temp sensor.
