    Multi-throttle intake or M50 swap?

BMP sells a multi-throttle for like $2,600. Not sure the HP gain and it just seems super spendy. I saw in the for sale thread one M50 for sale with harness and the guy was trying to get $750 for it. Is $750 about the going price for one without having to pull it yourself?
I would like to build the M20, well, just because. But It almost seems to be cheaper to just do a complete swap.

I hate to say it but you're probably better off going with the m50. I heard the BMP kit is pretty crapy but I think there are a few other MFGs if you still want to go that route, I can definitely understand why you would want to build up your m20.

Start off with deciding what it is that you want.

I bought my car knowing that I was going to do an M50.

Hell, I did not like the M20 back when they were new!

If cheap big power is your goal, turbocharge it.

Don't know hwhere you heard that from but its WRONG !!
The kit that BMP sells is the German Dbillas set-up which is a super high quality pricey piece .

mOnty you would be miles ahead in every sense if you go the twin-cam route .
M50's can be had for cheap all day long and a newer 2.8 M52 can be had for just slightly higher .

While I do agree that the twin cam swap is a much better alternative, I have to disagree about a m52 being only slightly cheaper. You have to factor in all the costs of going back to obd1 plus the actual motor tends to be a fair bit more then a run of the mill m50. It cost me ~2.2k for the motor/obd1 setup.

I like my m20... :) but if you do a swap m50 is the most cost effective. BMP ITB is nice high quality product, but its pretty expensive for minimal if any gains in real power.

            M50 FTW

You may want to add to the cost of ITBs, either a new engine management or Miller Performance MAF conversion. I don't think that for the money spent, it is the best bang for the buck. But on the other hand, the M50 conversion is not cheap either, even if you do the wrenching yourself. Obviously, you seem to want something that stands out and offers a bit more power.

Why not a 1988 Super Eta engine modified to i spec, s you would end up with a high revving 2.7litre i engine... Not very expensive to swap (injectors and DME), then add the MAF conversion for even more torque. You will have a sweet motor.

M50 motors are great engines that will last a lifetime (yours) and are basically maintenance free and bulletproof. But expect $5k for the swap, including all parts, but no engine yet.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
