    belt not centered, problem?

put the timing belt on and tensioned it, car is back together but then i realized, the timing belt wasnt perfectly centered on the crank and cam sprockets, it was a millimetre or 2 from the front side of the pulley, closest to the front of the car and there was about an 8th on the other side. will the belt find its own centre when i start the car or do i need to centre it? havnt started car, wont start car till i know. i dont want the damn new belt to slip off or something. it was already tensioned so i didnt want to mess with it
    thanks guys

it should be fine. It should straighten out the first few revolutions. I usually try and make it centered to start out with though.

You usually can’t get them centered perfectly very easily (from my experience anyway), especially when you put the belt on little too tight or the belt doesn’t fit very well. Just make sure the timing marks are on for sure and make sure everything else is in place like it should be. The belt should center itself.

This should probably be in the technical forum by the way.
