how early? cause my '85 has them.
It's called options. Doesn't come stock. 320i in EU don't have them either, until 1986 and up.
wait....so a rear sway bar was an option back in 85 for my car? that seems a little odd. i wouldnt expect to have a sway bar for an option, i would think that most "new car buyers" wopuldnt even know what a sway bar was.

It had new rear shocks, Bilstien Tourings(waste of money).

My 325ic and my bros 318is handle a million times better then the 318i did, and they are both stock.
Yea the stock 318is handles very well for stock :P. I can throw it around a corner and it feels very good, a lot more stiffer than my friends stock rsx.

I have an 85 e when I bought it the struts were blown and the bushing's were cracked it needed tierods and it handeled like a BOAT not fit for Hard driving or the twisty's at all, I went ahead and picked up some goodies, Koni Yellow's, IE stage 3 springs, new control arm bushings, new tierods, and new wheel bearings, I am still running Dunlop Sport A2's 205/60 R 14 and it handels 110% better, every aspect of handeling improved, allthow you have to commit to a lot firmer ride and less clearance, You have to slow down for bumps and all that but Compleatly Worth every cent.! Cant wait for Lo Pro's and swaybars. Drive Hard have fun!

They most likely didn't list "rear sway bar" as an option. It probably came as part of a "sport suspension" option or something.
