    Rearview Map Light normal?

I just bought a 1989 325i sedan and it has maplights built into the rearview mirror, there are no visible wires so I am wondering if this could be an option the car came with or was this added at some point by a previous owner?

It came standard in the later cars I believe, and is a popular addition to earlier E30s, E28s, etc.

Completely wrong !! More like an option at best since my e30 has one of the latest production dates for a coupe and does not have one at all but rather has the normal rearview mirror.

But is a real nice option and feature for the e30... Good bonus for OP though !!!

thanks for the input guys! I know my last E30 didnt have one and all the diy pages seemed to show you having to rewire them with a visible power wire going up into the headliner...
