    Tail light fuse keeps blowing

Every time I turn the headlight dimmer switch so that the orange lights come on, the tail light fuse will blow almost immediately. I bought a new switch and put it and and drove around with the light on for about 15 minutes and everything seemed good. But while I was doing a burnout (first day I had my car in a month, give me a break) the fuse blew. I replaced the fuse and turned the knob back up. It blew before the dash lights even came on.

Any ideas? This happen to a lot of people? I don't know what else to do since I already bought a new switch. Maybe it's the wrong fuse? I replaced it with a 30 because that's what was in there. Not much knowledge in the electrical side of cars.

I would say you might be grounding out. Time to trace the wires.

I have the same problem. I had to cut the gray with red wire coming from the switch just to keep the tail lights on. I don't know what is wrong but assume there is a short in the panel lights. My rear side markers and plate lights are also out.
For me it's fuse 23 that blows. and it should be a 7.5 amp fuse not 30.

Does anyone know where to look for the short? I checked the harness from the tail light forward to the point that it goes up under the dash.

Can you elaborate more on what you mean by "cut the gray with red wire coming from the switch." I have zero experience with car electronics.

I traced the short to somewhere in the dash by eliminating all the stuff in the back. In my car the gray wire with the red stripe feeds power to the dash lights as well as the rear side markers. I cut it far enough behind the switch that I can splice it back together after I find the short. This allowed the right tail light to work, but I have no dash lights for now.
You need to trace your wiring. First figure out if it's the tail lights or the other stuff and continue to eliminate areas. This stuff is hard to do. You should probably find someone to help you. Most of it is hidden behind trim panels.
