    5 speed swap parts? HELP

So, trying to buy some parts for 5 speed swap locally to swap for my gf's car.
Those with experience please comment on the things I need, those without experience... please please dont confuse me anymore than I am already :)

I'm assuming all I need is

    - transmission
    - linkage
    - engine harness
    - ECU
    - Diff

That, is all I'm assuming I need.

    ofcourse

New Pressure plate, flywheel, clutch, guibo, and gaskets. But other than that...

what else should I look for prior to buying it?

Transmission (getrag 260 if you have a m20 engine) w/ linkage and shifter
    transmisson support
manual trans drive shaft w/support bearing
pedal bucket & slave cylinder w/hoses
    flywheel
clutch set (get old in case of core)
Rear end is optional(if you do not have and want LSD)
Short shift kit if you want(time to do it if you are there already most use oem bmw z3 shifters and bushings)

There is no wiring harness or ecu needed. But however there is a wire you have to jump under the console around the automatic shifter and lighter

I believe that is all but someone might want to chime in if I forgot anything

Make sure that you get a new master and slave cylinder, also get new hoses. The linkage should come with the trans. Get a new guibo and CSB.

I have also heard that the pedal bucket needs to come from a car like yours i.e. if you have a non air bag car then get some out of a non air bag car and vice versa....

This is very important else you will end up with a big headache trying to make them fit.

            ...

thanks for all the info guys.

So let me get this right...

all I need is the all the manual transmission, shifter linkage, mount support, ssk, pedal bucket, and, do I have to replace the driveshaft from a manual? whats the difference? Never done the swap before, so don't know the significance of the driveshaft from auto to manual

            Thanks alot.

the length is different on the d shafts. If its at all possible, buy a parts car with a 5 speed. If you have room to store one its nice for small parts and its always nice to have around. It makes the swap really easy.

You have to use a drive shaft from a manual transmission car they are different length from automatic drive shafts which will not work with the swap !!!

And very important to remember that the pedal bucket has to be from a air bag car if yours is an air bag car and vice versa ( non air bag car then get a pedal bucket from a non air bag car)

Once you get your parts then search the forum here and there is something about what wires under the center console around the shifter/cig. lighter area that has to be spliced together...
