    Stroker Engine Timing

EDIT: I just bought this so hopefully, timing will be less of an issue. Was going to buy one anyway but when I found this one for so cheap, couldn't resist.

I've completed the engine and began work last night pulling the harness so that the engine can be removed today. The stroker will be dropped in this weekend. However, after hearing of differences between the cam gearing and also the crank wheel, I'm worried about the timing of the stroker. (I've looked over the gearing and will be installing both tomorrow morning on the engine to see if the timing marks stay aligned. I've also noticed that the teeth on the super eta crank wheel are small than the one on my "i" engine). Given that the ecu is from an "i", i would think the timing reference marks would need to coincide with an "i" engine. However, since the stroke is different, I'm begining to question myself. I have components from both engines so I can go either way. Just not sure which way to go at this point. Anyone know?

The engine is a 2.7l stroker based on a super eta setup, 274 cam, headers, M30 AFM, with 19# injectors. The compressions will be around 9.4:1. The chip being used is an Alpina 2.7l knockoff. I have a JC Chip with the current setup, and will also have a modified e30 eta chip meant to be used in a stroker with similar modifications within a couple weeks. Any recommendations or experience with this would be appreciated. I guess I could try both and see which works best but that would be a lot of work, and a standalone engine management system is a bit over my budget right now with the roll bar going in next weekend.

It is the same as the "i" engine ...as long as you have the timing marks at the proper location.

On my Stroker i got a Super ETA Bottom-End ..rebuilt the whole thing with many mods and i installed it all with the "i" engine head and all other i" engine parts ...

THe only thing different for the timing is that because i shaved the head 1.5mm, it was not dead on the timing mark. bvut very very close...So i have some timing retard which is good at high RPM...

I got the head chambers redone to fit the pistons in for a higher compression...which is about 10.8 to 1..295/295 cam ...fully ported head and intake..E36 injectors Lightweight flywheel with a 6 puck racing clutch..I also got some weight off the connecting rods then rebalanced...I also got a spacer with the Oil pump spring to increaser the Oil pressure...specially because i run it at 7000rpm quite often and do want lots of Oil on that cast crank....
Hope you like your setup...I find it pulls hard all the way to 7000rpm but after a while i wanted more...Good thing i have N.O.S.

    Have Fun
