    alt problem maybe? gauge failure...

so i get in my car yesterday and i turn it on and everything seems fine, but when i look back at the instrument cluster everything is zeroed out. so i shut it off and try again and the tach pops up to about 1K then zeroes out again about 3 seconds after i start it. i get on the highway and the only gauge thats working is is the speedo, so im thinkin maybe alternator.... i go to start back up this morning, same thing happens i go back to check the alt. voltage its at 12.08, should be around 13 right? anyways i get back inside and see that my ABS and battery lights are now lit up on the instrument panel, please tell me this is just a bad alternator and nothing more significant...

the alt belt seemed a little loose, but its adjustment cog wheel is maxed out so it cant get any tighter...just an FYI if that helps.

Fuse 12 is blown, or the wire that runs your instrument panel is dead. Same fuse also runs the power antenna...if you rev the motor (don't R3V it) your alternator light will shut off.

If you want to see the diagram, here is a great link from "Massive Lee"

but even tho the tach will kick on briefly before it zeroes out wouldnt that mean the fuse still works?

No, that is precisely why I think the fuse is blown. What the hell, man...go check it!
