    OBC conversion???

I just bought that 91 318is and its got the boring little pseudo-OBC... I'd reallly love to convert to the nicer one (with average speed, mpg etc. ) and i have one available with all wiring i could possibly need (randomtask37's car actually..). My question is... has anyone done this conversion and if so, is there a writeup somewhere on it? wiring insn't my strongest area. Thanks in advance for the help!!!

that was silly of you to buy that for your 318iS, because even wit the install tutorial, the OBC will still be coded for a 325, and will give greatly inaccurate readings, if it even works at all.

    Here's the tutorial:

According to strictlyeta a 325e OBC was fitted into a 318i with seemingly accurate readings.

      Joecivic,
The only wiring involved is unplugging the old connections, removing the old harness and stuffing the new harness behind the dash. Not very difficult once you get all the panels off. I have recently done this if you have any more specific questions. (i have a 325e though)

Why won't it work? the coding plug just tells it how to determine mpg/range, it will still power on and do its thing otherwise though
