Take off the roundel in the center with a small flat head screw driver. Then there is a 21, or 22MM nut in there. Have a friend hold the wheel while you loosen it. Do not use the cylinder lock tab, the tab that locks the wheel when you take the key out, to hold the wheel.
When the nut is off, put key in ignition and turn to release lock tabe and pull off. One min job.
Good luck.Originally posted by cabriodster87"Honey? What color is this wire? Is it the same as that one? Are you sure? I don't believe it. OK, it works. Thank you sweetie."Originally posted by Kershawi've got a boner and a desire to speed.

I always use the tab to hold the wheel. I use my 4-way lug wrench to loosen the nut so that i can get the leverage I need.
The few times I had the car towed with the front wheels on the ground, the tab was strong enough to keep the wheels from turning so I cannot imagine that unbolting the steering wheel would put that much more stress on the tab. In fact the first time I attempted to remove the wheel, I didn't realize that I had to turn the key. So I spent 30 minutes fighting and wrestling with the wheel to get it off. I even hit it with the sledge hammer a few times. By the time I realized my mistake, there was already metal shavings on the carpet from the inside of the steering wheel.

I am wondering if it is possible to take the steering wheel off without the key. OR what is the best way to break the lock cylinder if there is no other way?
thanks.
