So recently I swapped out my non working 325e gauge cluster with redline at 4500 to some sort of 325i/is cluster off an 89 E30 with redline at 6000. Now I was wondering if there is any downside to doing this besides that the redline will not be correct? Everything will read accurate right? or are somethings not, such as the fuel gauge because when I swapped in the new gauge cluster it read that i had 3/4th tanks compared to the 1/2 tank that it read in my old cluster. Information on this would be appreciated Thanks.

^^ Truth. The fuel gauge is your only worry. HOWEVER, if your redline is only at 6k on the new cluster it is a super ETA cluster not an "is". I might be wrong. Some correct me if I am.** Lot's of M20 turbo parts for sale.**

i think the clusters should be the same as long as its coded for 6 cylinder tachometry.
Just be careful though with buying a tach that reads deceiving rpm redlines. thats not good.. i mean hitting the fuel cuttoff is fine but eta motors arent extremely happy being that high up in the revolutions anyways.. i hope you have a chip..
