How hard is it to take out the front glass?

I got a fix it ticket up in Santa Barbara during Bimmerfest for my front licence plate and window tint that is due on June 1st. I need it figure out the easiest way to git rid of my front window tint, either temporarly or permanent. My buddy Sean (ETA fro) has his red e30 with no tint at all. I was curious how hard it would be to switch front windows for a day then switch them back. I ask this because my tint in front isn't very dark and i like the way it looks.

Also anyone got any hints/tips on taking the tint off? I hope it doesn't come down to this but it might...

    Thanks in advance

It's not that hard to switch the glas actually, 2 or 3 little bolts I think. If I were you, I would for sure try to do that before taking off your tint that's only a few months old. You just have to be sure not to scratch it.

On second thought, I do not know if the 84-87 windows match up to the 88-91 windows.

If they don't, I have a set of 91 windows.

The locking strips aren't the easiest, there's sort of a trick to get it in. I watched my mechanic do it but i dont know how

Its easy to take the tint off. Lower the window a tad, so you can get to the part where the tint starts, spray some windex on the inside of the whole window, let it sit for a minute or two, then pull out a razor and start razoring (?) downwards. Simple as pie.

Taking out/installing the front door glass is easy. Take off your door panel, look at the back of the door, and you'll see. It's pretty self explanatory.

what is the purpose of the windex? Is the film "glued" to the window or how does it attach?

If you want to buy some window glass I've got 2 front windows in the attiv of a 2 door no tint.
But Pulling them out is easy.

tint is super easy. You don't even need windex, soap and water is fine. You just need a point to grab from (a corner, or something, if not just scrape it till you have something to grab). Usually it comes off in one piece, then you just soak the glue with soapy water and scrape it with the razor blade.

Windows seem pretty simple, I'll be switchin a few soon. I suppose I could take pics and stuff when I do it, so people would know how in the future.

DEFINATELY don't remove your tint - that would really suck. Specially if you paid to have it professionally installed. :?

Why don't you just put your plates on your friend's car if it's red and have a officer sign it off.
