    ETA Stroker Question?

If I were to do a stroker with an eta block. I know I can use either the 325e or 528 eta. I know there are differences in the eta years. What year is that? 88 and if so does that apply to the 528 as well? or is there only one style of 528e?

all 88 eta motors are the supereta motor, found in both the e28 and e30. pre 87 they are all the same basic blocks and heads, there are some minor electronics and wiring differences between the years but the basic motor is the same.

With the 88 you can slap on the i head and all top end components including wiring and you're done. Budget 2.7i stroker.

additionally, they come with an "I" head already. techincally all you need are springs and cam, though if you can buy one complete like I did it may just be simpler.
Supereta intake manifold will need swapped as well, no big deal. More good news, supereta's already have Motronic 1.1. So you plug the right ecu in and go.

start with an '88 superETA car, and the "swap" is disgustingly easy.

                  I'm assuming

this swap would pass emission easily right?

also if I use 272 cam would that work with the original chip ecu? or do I need to get it retuned... kinda stupid with teh swap knowledge, so need some help :)

yes it passes smog, the worst state is CA, here, and it will pass with the 272 cam, you can use the original ECU fine, but a chip just helps even more.

If you want to stroke the 325i, you will need a eta crankshaft and super eta rods and pistons, i have all those and sell kits for the super eta and 325i to make them the 2.7i stuff.
the super eta for the E28 528e started 3/87-12/87, 9/87-12/87 has the head drilled for a 7 bearing camshaft and has a 7 bearing cam however.

                      ITs my DD

Its my dd so I'll wait for a whole engine, it'll be alot more cost effective that way anyways. I can strip down and build straight, even the head since I'll be putting in 272/272, and just install new springs which are pretty darn cheap even at dealership.
