    Upgrade FOG bulb?

I blew a bulb in my fogs(89 325is)...Is there and upgrade bulb (I know nothing about lighting....)

Or should I just pick up a h3 bulb from the autoparts store?

If you arent gonna go to OSRAM Superstar then just get the pink package at the Autozone.

OSRAM rules. When we convert the M3 to HID next week I can finally have my OSRAM H1 high beam bulbs back.

Yes, OSRAM makes all the H-code lamps. Since the fogs are an H3 you can run the OSRAMS.

Search for OSRAM and there is a post by Kris (bimmerphile) about where to get them online for cheap.

The H1 statement just pertains to me. I just like to talk about myself.

Go to the FAQ section of the forum, and you can learn all about lights, including H3s.

As am I, but I like to think that I can fake it pretty well.

*I just updated the lighting thread in the FAQ section with another article (where to buy bulbs).

Yes H3 is all you need to worry about. Your fogs will only take H3 so just get the OSRAM H3. Suvlights.com sells the OSRAM, I got my high beams from them.

George, what kind of an upgrade do you want for your fogs? Better visibility in, oh, fog and crappy weather; or better road illumination all around?

I've got some 55w and 100w Eurolite Gold H3 bulbs if you need better foul weather visibility.

I dont get much fog in Orange COunty so fog lights are all for looks.

I think of my fogs as driving lights - I run them with the headlights always.

I like them when they are a little wide, and even though they dont reach as far as the headlights, I like the spread off to the sides...so the brighter the better...I don't care about the hue or color - I think it would be amusing to throw a yellow bulb in just for fun...

What I really would liek to know is what wattage can I get away with(stock is 55W right?)

I've run the 100 watt H3's fine. The gold hue ones. But since rocks love my fogs water gets in and causes the H3 to fail very quickly.

If you want a pair of bulbs let me know. There new and reasonably priced.

Stock is 55W, and naturally I am going to tell you to throw a 55W in there because that is what the stock wiring/housing/etc is designed for. Whether or not you choose to nearly double the wattage is up to you :)

If you use them like you do, I suggest the Phillips VisionPlus bulbs at $30/pair from SUVlights. They're 55W, and are comparable to the OSRAM Silverstars (No blue coating, modified gas chemistry). If you're feeling ballsy, the NARVA Rally lights (still clear bulbs) in 100W are for $18/pair, but like I said I take no responsibility for your car catching fire, etc. ;)

Hmmm, wires are easy to swap out with something beefier, how much can that relay take?

Do most guys just tap power from the switch to drive a larger relay with larger wires?

Yea 100W fogs - I think I'll enjoy that. Can the housing take the heat?
