'88 Super Eta gauge cluster issues

Just bought an '88 Seta with some small problems. I've been out of the E30 loop for a hot minute and have most of the problems either fixed or on the way to being fixed, but I've got one that's boggling me a bit.

The gauge cluster is dead, instrumentation-wise. All the warning lights work, one or two burnt out bulbs, but the tach, speedo, and fuel gauge are all lifeless. All the connections (the three snap-ins on the back and the one small connector, unless I'm missing something) are in the right places, and the coolant temp gauge works fine. I thought maybe SI batteries, but that wouldn't kill the speedo, would it?

All fuses in the fuse box are good. Where to go to next? Help is greatly appreciated, and nice to see you guys again.

is it missing the coding plug/chip? A small chip in the front bottom right of the gauge cluster.

-Hey matt, my s-eta's @ 67 Motors. The gauge cluster worked on it, and its the correct 6k tach anywho (yours has an incorrect 5k, iirc). Call me if you want to go get it.

Bump for new gauge cluster fixing the speedo. Here are current issues.

        - New cluster tach/economy gauge doesn't work, but I do get a reaction when I lightly tap on the face of the cluster. None of the connections are loose in the back, maybe a bad ground? The needles "hop" but return to zero.

        - Fuel gauge is back to life, but seems to be reading 1/2 of what is actually in the tank. When I fill it up, it sits RIGHT at the half mark, and drops down to what I assume is the bottom of the motor's travel, then stops. I have to guesstimate when to fill up because of this. I know the light doesn't work because I put 13.2 gallons in it the other day when I fixed the cluster, and the light hadn't been on.

        - No odometer, but speedo works fine. Think this is just a coincidence with the odo gears being bad.
