Pros/Cons of using Spring Hats/Perches to lower a front end?

I searched but could not find any info on lowering spring hats/ spring perches/ drop hats.

If you do, please link it.

What would the effects of these lowering hats be on a suspension? Would it be like getting shorter springs or like lowering the frame but not the suspension?

If you know the good/bad about them let us know. I was looking at these as a way to lower a car more but dont want them to adversely bad effect.

Be like lowering the frame not the suspension as the intial ride height of the shock tower remains the same.

I used them for awhile in Germany with no ill effects but not here in the US I wouldn't be able to get anywhere.

i just bought a set for the front, supposedly slightly less than 1" of drop. planning on using them with stock m3 springs and tokico shocks.

i'll let you know how it goes but i'm still collecting bushings...

do they all lower around 1" I was looking for somehting that will drop about .5" since I installed the new bilsteins the front has raised up from what it was, plus I'm thinking of buying some camber plates which would rais it ruffly another 3/8".

IIRC the ones from Bonrath drop 10mm.

They make 10 to 20 mm drop units depends on who you purchase from.

what are some ohter suppliers besides FK and Bonrath? I looked on FK nort america section and didn't see any lowering ahts.

thanks the front is starting to settle back down some but my 85 318i on 60mm drop spax springs is still lower

So the stock suspension softness would stay with a lowered look?

Why wouldnt you run them in the U.S.? How did they feel in Germany?

Would it do any good to use these with Eibach Pro-Kits on post-88 cars to lower the front more to even out the space between the wheel arches?
(Since we all know that post-88 E30's had lower rear wheel arches that look silly slammed)

german roads are smoother than us roads imo

plus if your lowering a car you want stiffer or you will bottom out on any dips in the road much easier

i was thinking about getting some, to lessen the wheel gap i have in front, Are these usable with camber plates?
